McKenzie River Fishing

The McKenzie River is one of the most stocked rivers in Oregon, making it an excellent fishing destination. This river offers anglers the chance to catch 22 native fish species and more than seven non-native fish. The Leaburg Fish Hatchery provides this spring-fed river with an ample supply of trout, while the McKenzie Fish Hatchery supplies spring Chinook salmon. Along this river, you’ll find 1,300 square miles of lakes, tributaries, and streams where you can catch wild and hatchery trout, spring Chinook, summer steelhead, sturgeon, sculpin, lamprey, and whitefish. The regulations vary depending on the time of year and section in which you’re fishing. When you buy your fishing license, make sure you read the Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations thoroughly.
